Meet Coach Desi Mayner

 The story behind Mayner Leadership didn’t start in business. It started with loss… and a question every driven leader eventually faces: What am I actually supposed to do with my leadership, my impact… and honestly… my life? Very similar to the two modes of a small service business owner: 👉 We’re scaling. 👉 Or… it might be time to sell the truck.

On paper, life looked successful. Division I athlete. High School Athletic Hall of Fame member. Special education teacher for 10 years. Long-time winning sports coach. But internally I was asking: If leadership changed my life… why are so many people stuck under bad leadership?

And I realized something hard. There wasn’t a real tactical leadership development system that helped business leaders operationalize leadership and apply it inside their everyday interactions, communications, and operations. All there was: Motivation, Inspiration, Theory, Fluffy Mindset talk & Guesswork.

So I went all in. Reading every book. Watching every video. Studying the greatest leaders in combat, sports, and business. Certifications. Coaching. Mentors. Podcasts. Testing everything. Because I saw people everywhere struggling under poor leadership. Blue collar, White collar, Teams, Front Line Staff, everyone from top to bottom, including the owner/operators having to carry the weight of everything alone. And I believed they deserved better.

I believe in small business. I believe in local business. I believe strong leadership strengthens communities, families, and the our country. Teams deserve leaders who: Believe in them, Challenge them, Develop them & Help them win in business and life. Owners deserved better than being the victim of the business they dreamed of building.

I couldn’t stop with just a belief. That wasn’t going to be enough. I kept improving because people didn’t need more leadership quotes. They needed: Real tactical tools. Real implementation. Real application of leadership laws and winning mindsets that can actually be implemented. Real leadership paradox awareness of opposing forces working against them. Real communication frameworks for everyday use. Real accountability structures that stick and build culture.

There was no system answering: “What does leadership look like Tuesday at 2 PM when something breaks… or when a big opportunity shows up?” So I built one.

An operational leadership framework. I Tested it with: Owners, Operators, Managers, Frontline staff, Teams of all sizes across 50+ industries & Hundreds of small service businesses. Inside real businesses. With real pressure. With real teams. And it worked.

BUT…Just when things started working… We almost lost everything. COVID hit. The world shut down. I had to sell the house to invest in the business. Everything changed overnight. The entire model had to shift. The future was completely uncertain.

Then something unexpected happened. Business owners started reaching out. Their message was clear: “This is not the time I quit, I need help to survive & grow.” “I need help leading my team.” “I can’t be the bottleneck anymore.”

I quickly became a lifeboat for: Struggling business owners, Leaders in the trenches, Overwhelmed operators. And it gave us a second chance, not just to survive, but to step fully into small service business leadership development and pressure test our leadership system during one of the toughest times this country has ever seen.

The breakthrough was simple and powerful: Leadership must be systemized. Leadership must be operationalized.

When leadership became: Absolute Accountability foundations. Leadership Laws. Implementable Mindsets. Leadership Paradoxes. Real-world application communication frameworks & operating systems. Clients finally got something they could be: Taught, Trained, Equipped, Empowered, Held Accountable to and best of all produced repeatable results.
